history

In 1949, Adolf Zimmermann and his wife Marianne opened a mill construction company in a former sheepfold in Osterburken . At the beginning he designed machines for mills and bakeries after work. In 1951 he built the first semolina cleaning machine “Pyramidal” and in 1952 the first centrifugal flour sifter “Triumpf” from AZO came onto the market. This is considered the prototype of today's eddy current sieving machines and was designed in cooperation with a master baker. As early as the mid-1950s, AZO was supplying the bakery and bread industry with complete flour, sieve, loosening and tempering systems.

In 1963 the company with 80 employees moved into a new 2,500 m² hall. The development of pneumatic suction weighing systems for feeding kneaders and mixers and silos in shell construction, which fit into every building thanks to a standardized modular system, was successful. The increased sales activities made AZO the market leader in this field after a few years.

In 1978 the first foreign sales company was founded in Memphis (Tennessee) . AZO manufactured complex contactor controls until 1979 . In 1980, AZO started developing special feeding software and began building electronic weighing controls. A major order from the spice industry in 1983 led to the development and use of fully automatic dosing container systems. In the 1980s, AZO developed systems for small component automation . Different containers such as sacks, big bags and containers required different automation requirements. The company developed handling systems for the various containers for this purpose .
