Bárbara dos Santos Guimarães (born April 21, 1973 in Sá da Bandeira , Angola ) is a Portuguese television presenter .

Life

Bárbara Guimarães was born in 1973 in Sá da Bandeira, today's Lubango , in what was then the Portuguese colony of Angola. As a toddler she came back to Portugal with her family. She later studied international relations at the University of Lusíada in Lisbon, but then dropped out to become a journalist for the television channel TVI . After she had also started to moderate cultural programs there , she switched to the channel SIC , where she performed more and more popular entertainment programs. From then on she became a well-known personality, also in the gossip columns of the boulevard .

In particular, she achieved great fame in Portugal as a presenter of various casting shows and the Globo de Ouro awards. In 2012 the broadcaster The Biography Channel made a documentary about her life, which was also shown internationally.

After a marriage with the television scriptwriter Pedro Miguel Ramos from 1997 to 2002, Bárbara Guimarães was married to the politician Manuel Maria Carrilho from 2003 , of whom she has two children, son Dinis Maria (born January 30, 2004) and daughter Carlota Maria ( * October 10, 2010). The marriage ended in divorce in 2013, accompanied by numerous reports of mutual allegations. Before and after, she was widely reported in the gossip press, for example her 2014 affair with entrepreneur Kiki Neves, or her photos for the cover of men's lifestyle magazine GQ 2012.
