The Bärenkopf is a 2083 meter high mountain in the Allgäu Alps .
Location and surroundings
It rises in the Kleinwalsertal near the villages of Mittelberg and Baad . In the west it is framed by the Bärgunttal and in the east by the Gemsteltal. The ridge of the Bärenkopf continues to the southwest over the Kleiner Widderstein and the Karlstor to the Großer Widderstein .
The height of the bear head is at least 103 meters, its dominance 900 meters, with the Kleine Widderstein being the reference mountain.
Ascent
The Bärenkopf can be climbed from Baad in about 2½ hours. The path initially leads on a forest road over the Breitachbrücke into Bärgunttal to the Inner Widdersteinalpe. From here the south ridge and later the summit are reached on path tracks in partly steep terrain.
