Bärnzell is a district of the city of Zwiesel in the Lower Bavarian district of Regen .

location

The forest farming village of Bärnzell is located about one kilometer southwest of Zwiesel not far from the federal highway 11 on the Tausendbach.

history

In 1332, Provost Friedrich Röschl of Rinchnach Abbey prepared space for 17 estates here, and 14 estate owners have survived since 1582. In old books the place is always written as Berndtszell , which according to a Niederaltaich chronicler can be explained as "Bernhard's cell ". It is entered as Berenzell in Landtafel 12 by Philipp Apian from 1568 .

The municipality of Bärnzell was founded in 1821. The municipal area included the villages of Bärnzell, Griesbach and Zwieselberg as well as the hamlet of Glasberg, which was created in 1848. Bärnzell has had a village chapel with a bell since 1867. On the altar there is an auxiliary image of Mary .

On October 1, 1930, the Bärnzell volunteer fire department was founded . During the land consolidation carried out from 1966 to 1973 , the number of parcels decreased from 1,082 to 666, the average size increased from 0.66 to 1.07 hectares. In the course of the municipal area reform , the 1,250 hectare community Bärnzell came to the city of Zwiesel on May 1, 1978 with 652 inhabitants.

In the southeast, 700 meters high on the slope of the Leitenwaldhöhe, there was a striking deserted farm . The Leithenbauernhof , which included 28 days of Grund's work , was built in 1850 by the Schopf family, who lived on the farm until 1919. The next owner was Hans Kufner by marriage for over 30 years, and from 1950 to 1959 the property belonged to the Denk family. Then the building served as an after-work dormitory for the Zwiesel volunteer fire brigade until it was demolished in 1984.

In addition to agriculture, agrotourism is also important for Bärnzell .
