In 1997 he took part in the World Archery Championships in Victoria , Canada , where he formed the Norwegian team with Martinus Grov and H. Håkonsen, which competed in the team competition (Olympic archery ). The Norwegian trio won through to the final and met the favored trio from South Korea around Kim Kyung-Ho , Jang Yong-Ho and Kim Bo-Ram . The Norwegians lost to the trio and were able to win the first Norwegian medal at the World Archery Championships with the silver medal.

In 2000 he qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time and was nominated by the Norges idrettsforbund for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney . After he finished 45th in the placement round as the best Norwegian, he met the Dutchman Henk Vogels in the first round of the elimination phase , whom he defeated with 158: 149. In the second round he was defeated by the French Sébastien Flute with 160: 148 and was eliminated from the Olympic competition. Together with Lars Erik Humlekjær and Martinus Grov , he formed the Norwegian team that competed in the team competition. In the placement round, the trio only finished 14th and last. In the first round of the elimination phase they were eliminated with 241: 246 against the Kazakh team.

After failing to qualify for the Olympic Games in both 2004 and 2008, he qualified four years later as the only Norwegian archer for the 2012 Olympic Games in London and was therefore only able to compete in the individual competition. Compared to his first Olympic competition, he was able to improve in the placement round and took 21st place. So he met in the first round of the elimination phase from the poorly placed Japanese Hideki Kikuchi and qualified with the 6: 5 win for the next round. By beating Jacob Wukie from the USA 6-2 , he moved into the round of 16, where he met Takaharu Furukawa . With the 2-6 defeat against the Japanese, he was eliminated from the competition.

In 2015 he was allowed to take part in the first ever European Games . At the European Games in Baku in 2015 , he competed in singles, in team competitions and in mixed team competitions. In the individual competition he finished 26th in the placement round as the best Norwegian, so that in the first round of the elimination phase he met the poorly placed Slovenian Rok Bizjak . With 6: 0 he moved into the second round, where he beat the Belarusian Anton Prylepau . Against the Belarusians he lost 6-0 and was eliminated from the competition. He formed the Norwegian men's team together with Christoffer Furnes and Paul Andre Hagen . After finishing 11th in the placement round, they met the German team in the round of 16 of the elimination phase and lost 1: 5. In the mixed team competition, he and Line Blomen Ridderstrom did not survive the placement phase as 23rd.

He qualified for the Olympic Games for the third time in 2006. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he was again the only Norwegian archer to compete in an individual competition. After finishing 26th in the placement round, he faced Yu Guan-lin from Taipei, China, in the first round of the elimination phase . With the 6: 5 win he moved into the second round and met Takaharu Furukawa there . As four years ago, he had to admit defeat to the Japanese and was eliminated from the competition.
