Location of Böckum in Erwitte

Böckum is a district of the city of Erwitte in the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1974 Böckum was a municipality in what was then the Lippstadt district .

geography

Böckum is located in the northwest of the city of Erwitte near the Hamm – Warburg railway line . The place is made up of two smaller, self-contained settlement areas. In the northern part is the St. Stephen's Chapel and a triangular square surrounded by residential buildings. The southern district, about 300 meters away, is characterized by agriculture.

history

The first written mention of Böckum comes from the year 1242. Since the 19th century Böckum was a rural community in the office of Anröchte of the Lippstadt district. On January 1, 1975, Böckum was incorporated into the city of Erwitte by the Münster / Hamm Act , which was assigned to the enlarged Soest district.
