Merklinghausen-Wiggeringhausen is a district of the city of Erwitte in the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1974 Merklinghausen-Wiggeringhausen was a municipality in what was then the Lippstadt district .

The Merklinghausen-Wiggeringhausen district consists of the two hamlets Merklinghausen-Wiggeringhausen, which are connected by the Jülmecke stream. The two hamlets are located in the extreme northwest of the city of Erwitte near the Hamm – Warburg railway line .

history

Merklinghausen-Wiggeringhausen was first mentioned in 1285. Merklinghausen-Wiggeringhausen had been a rural community in the Anröchte district of Lippstadt since the 19th century . On January 1, 1975 Merklinghausen-Wiggeringhausen was incorporated into the city of Erwitte by the Münster / Hamm law , which was assigned to the enlarged Soest district.
