The Børselva ( North Sami : Bissojohka , kvensk : Pyssyjoki ) is a river in the municipality of Porsanger in the Norwegian province of Troms og Finnmark . It has its origin north of the eastern part of the fell area Gaissene in the east of the municipality and flows into the Porsangerfjord at Børselv . The river has a length of 76.2 km and a catchment area of ​​882.81 km². The mean flow rate at the mouth is 18.47 m³ / s. It flows in its course through the Silfar Gorge, where the water is clear and emerald colored . The Silfar Gorge is one of the deepest gorges in Northern Europe.

The Børselva is one of three salmon-rich rivers in Porsanger municipality - the other two rivers are the Lakselva and the Stabburselva .
With its inclusion in the Verneplan I for vassdrag program , the river has been under special protection since 1973.
