The Lakselva ( Northern Sami : Leavdnjajohka , kvensk : Lemmijoki ; German translation: "Salmon River") is a river in the municipality of Porsanger in Finnmark (Northern Norway). It has its origin in the region north of Karasjok , flows north and flows into the Porsangerfjord a little north of Lakselv . The river is 103.1 km long, has a catchment area of 1539.04 km² and an average discharge rate of 26.93 m³ / s.
The river is known for its salmon , sea trout and grayling .
With the Verneplan III for vassdrag program , the river has been under special protection since 1986.
