The series  Uh of the Lower Austrian State Railways (NÖLB) is a narrow gauge - steam locomotive track width 760 mm, which was built only in one copy.

On the occasion of the extension of the Pielachtalbahn in the Kirchberg section at the Pielach -Laubenbachmühle in 1905, the Niederösterreichische Landesbahnen ordered a prototype locomotive from the Krauss locomotive factory in Linz , which basically corresponded to the Uv series ordered at the same time , but was designed with superheated steam technology in contrast to this composite locomotive . These locomotives were further developments of the U series , which had already been tried and tested several times , the superheated steam engine was equipped with a superheater based on the Wilhelm Schmidt patent and was also the first locomotive of its type in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy . Although positive experiences were made with this locomotive, known as  Uh.1 , no further copies were ordered. However, this experience led to orders for superheated steam locomotives - of the Mh series - for the mountain section of the Mariazell Railway , which went into operation at the end of 1906 .

Since the NÖLB lines were leased by BBÖ from 1921 , the Uh.1 was first transferred to the Salzkammergut local railway in 1923 , which was also operated by the state railway that year. In 1924 it was relocated to the Bregenzerwaldbahn and redrawn there as Bh.1 . After the Second World War, it remained with the Austrian Federal Railways ( ÖBB ) and was referred to as 398.01 in the new ÖBB numbering  scheme , and was used on the Ybbstalbahn until it was replaced by diesel locomotives of the 2095 series in the 1960s . After that she drove on the Waldviertel narrow-gauge railways until she was parked . The formal retirement did not take place until 1973, after which it was acquired by the Railway Association Club 760 in Styria . In the course of a locomotive exchange, the machine finally came to the Steiermärkische Landesbahnen , where it was reprocessed and included in the nostalgic train service of the Murtalbahn . From 1992 to 1995 she was to be found on loan on the Thörlerbahn , which was operated by an association until 1998 and has since been completely shut down , after which it was taken out of service with the boiler deadlines expired. In 2004, the Bh.1 again received a general inspection, so that the locomotive is still available on the Murtalbahn. Since then, it has also been used several times with special trains on other routes, for example on the Mariazellerbahn and the Ybbstalbahn, and is the oldest preserved and operational superheated steam locomotive in the world.
