The Herford Minden Ravensberg Company Health Insurance Fund (BKK HMR) is a German statutory health insurance company from the group of company health insurance funds based in Herford .
history
Overall, the company health insurance in Herford can look back on more than 100 years of history. The current BKK HMR was created in 1996 through the merger of the previously independent company health insurance funds EMR (Elektrizitätswerk Minden-Ravensberg GmbH, founded in 1914) and Herford district (founded in 1919). The opening for members from all over North Rhine-Westphalia took place in 2003. Up to this point in time, the BKK HMR had 10,412 insured persons (June 30, 2013). On January 1, 2009, the BKK merged with the BKK Lafarge Dachsysteme in Petershagen . In a national German comparison, the BKK HMR is a rather small health insurance company, which has achieved above-average growth rates in recent years and now insures more than 21,500 people, mainly from the East Westphalia-Lippe region.
Specialty
The ticket office is located in the former Herford small train station, a building of the Herford small railway . As part of a previous merger with the company health insurance fund for the employees of the Herford small railway, the BKK also insures most of the former employees. This relationship is still underlined today by various projects with the Kleinbahnmuseum in Enger.
Business area
Since January 1, 2009, the BKK HMR has been open for the following federal states: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein. People with statutory health insurance who live or work in one of these federal states can choose the BKK HMR.
50 people are employed in a total of two customer centers in Herford and Petershagen. The board of directors is Thomas Sielemann.
A total of more than 21,500 insured persons are looked after. Traditionally, the BKK Herford Minden Ravensberg has a regional focus with its offers. In addition, the BKK was one of the cheapest health insurance funds in Germany and has not raised any additional contributions since the introduction of the health fund.
The budget for 2013 had a volume of almost 46.5 million euros. The additional contribution rose to an above-average 1.35 percent in 2020.
The BKK HMR is a member of the working group of the company health insurance funds in Ostwestfalen-Lippe (BKK ARGE OWL) as well as the umbrella association of the company health insurance funds (BKK Dachverband eV).
