After the company sports associations were dissolved in 1990, the rugby players from the entire club formed the Veltener RC Empor in 1969 .

Roller sports

The roller sports section had existed since at least the early 1960s. Outstanding member of the section was the eight-time GDR master Klaus-Dieter Gutschmidt , who had been a member of the section since 1965. In 1973 he took part in the international match between the GDR and Italy and France in Halberstadt as a member of the national team , and in 1974 he won his first two championship titles in Erfurt over the sprint and 10,000 meter distances, with one over the 500 meter sprint distance GDR record set up. He did not win the following championship titles as a member of the BSG Up.

rugby

The rugby section with the sport of rugby union was officially founded on September 1, 1969. This foundation went back to Burkhard Schirmer. The region north of Berlin was a stronghold of rugby in the GDR, with Veltens neighboring town Hennigsdorf being home to the top club. Other places in the vicinity had teams in play, so there were frequent derbies : Hohen Neuendorf , Birkenwerder , Oranienburg , Leegebruch and Falkensee . From the 1978 season, the Veltener rugby players played in the first-class league . In the 1980s, Velten had made it into the top group. So they achieved third place in the table in 1981 and reached the runner-up championship the following year. In 1983 the BSG Empor Velten lost the final of the German Rugby Sports Association's cup against their local neighbor BSG Stahl Hennigsdorf with 7:24. Furthermore, the BSG was successful in the youth and school sector and was able to celebrate several championships and cup wins with its offspring. The first title was the 1974 championship in the youth field. The B-pupils became champions in 1977 and 1978 and also won the pioneer cup in 1977, as did the A-pupils. The A-students won the championship in 1981 and 1985. Four players from BSG Empor Velten were appointed to the GDR's national rugby union team.

Further sections

Bowling has existed at BSG Empor Velten since at least the mid-1950s. The rowing section existed in the meantime, but was dissolved before the end of the GDR or changed to another sports community. The table tennis team changed from BSG Motor Leegebruch to BSG Empor Velten in 1958 due to financial problems. The team that moved to Velten played in the district league .
