Başyayla is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Karaman . The city is located about 70 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Karaman . Turansah Dağı Mountain is north of the city.

geography

The district created in 1990 is located in the southwest of the province. It borders on Konya Province to the north, Ermenek County to the east and south, and Sarıveliler County to the west . In addition to the district town ( Merkez ), the district consists of four villages ( Köy ), of which the largest ( Büyükkarapinar ) has 557 inhabitants.

Near Başyayla was the ancient city of Lauzados , of which only sparse remains have been preserved.
