Kazımkarabekir (until 1956 Gafferiyat ) is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Karaman . The city is located about 25 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital Karaman on the D-715 highway from Konya to Silifke .
The district of Kazımkarabekir, created in 1989, is located in the north-west of the province. It borders on Konya Province to the south, west and north and the Central County to the east . The city lies on the southern foothills of the Konya Plain (Konya Ovası) , in the south lies the Özyurt Dağı mountain range with the 2,481 meter high Kabakbaşı Dağı peak. The district consists of the district town of Kazımkarabekir ( Merkez ) and six villages, of which Akarköy (380 inhabitants) is the largest.
The town and district are named after Kâzım Karabekir , a general in the Turkish Liberation War .
