Brick house production
backsteinhaus produktion is a Stuttgart dance theater company . It was founded in 2007 by Nicki Liszta, who studied dance theater at the Fontys Dance Academy in Tilburg . Members are the choreographer and artistic director Nicki Liszta, the composer and musician Heiko Giering and the dancer and manager Isabelle von Gatterburg. International artists from different disciplines complement the team for each production. Backsteinhaus produktion has been working in cooperation with Theater Rampe since 2016 and has received institutional funding from Stuttgart since 2018.
Artistic handwriting
The idiosyncratic and interdisciplinary formal language at the border between contemporary dance and theater is characteristic of the pieces by backsteinhaus produktion. The individual and recognizable signature is the creation of an absurd world based on real aesthetics. The works show a high degree of authenticity and richness of detail, as they are created in close cooperation with the actors. Current events are discussed controversially and caricatured by means of theatrical exaggeration. The intimate inner processes of the protagonists within this exaggeration have a decisive empathy function and allow the audience to slide into the created closed world. Backsteinhaus production conveys topics in a black humor, consistently and often also through spatial proximity. The ruthlessness of the performers, the sophisticated background of the pieces and the often unusual venues create a highly political and emotionally immersive dance theater.
