Bad Turn Worse is an American thriller by Simon and Zeke Hawkins , which premiered on September 7, 2013 at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada and was shown for the first time in Germany on August 29, 2014 at the Fantasy Filmfest .

Sue lives in a small community in Texas , surrounded by dusty streets and ugly houses, and she can't wait to finally go to college so that she can finally turn her back on her bleak home. Her friend BJ has almost come to terms with his fate and wants to stay in Texas. However, BJ's best friend Bobby would love to go to college with Sue, and he's secretly in love with her too. On the last weekend before the two of them say goodbye, they all want to do it one last time together. However, BJ stole the money for the party from his boss Giff, and when he notices this, he forces the three friends to make amends by robbing his own boss, gangster Big Red. In this attempt, the friends get deeply into the arms of the local mafia.

Brothers Simon and Zeke Hawkins directed the film . Dutch Southern wrote the screenplay for the film . The film pays homage to the Oklahoma-born crime writer Jim Thompson , whose novel The Killer Inside Me in the film of the same name was implemented as film noir by Michael Winterbottom in 2010 and is regularly quoted by Billy Joe's friend.

The Canadian actress Mackenzie Davis took on the role of Sue in the film, the American actors Logan Huffman and Jeremy Allen White got the roles of their friend BJ and his buddy Bobby. The gangster Big Red is portrayed by William Devane .

Stephen Holden of The New York Times describes the film as Texas Neo-Noir and explains: This little, mean directorial debut by the brothers Zeke and Simon Hawkins, based on a script by Dutch Southern, has a whole den of malicious critters ready to try their poison applies.
