Robert Cargill . The film was released in US cinemas on August 21, 2015; in Germany on September 17, 2015.

action

Courtney Collins has separated from her beating husband Clint and has secretly moved into an empty house with her two nine-year-old sons Dylan and Zach. Dylan is plagued by nightmares. He sees other children, including Milo, who lures him into the cellar. There Dylan is supposed to watch films on an old Super 8 projector. The films initially show a healthy family life before one of the children present brutally kills the other family members. Dylan is reluctant to watch the films.

The ex-deputy so-and-so is looking for more victims and buildings of the curse of the Bughuul (see part 1 ). One of the incidents happened in the church on the neighboring property, so the deputy wants to burn both buildings. Since the house is now inhabited by the Collins, his plan does not work. Looking for an alternative, he befriends Courtney and Dylan. Zach finds out that Dylan is in contact with the ghost children and feels left out. So he beats up his brother because he feels like the better of the two. Meanwhile, Clint has found out the whereabouts of his children and wife. So and so fends off the intervention of the state troopers called in with legal reasons, so that Clint also leaves. Shortly afterwards, so and so must go to Dr. Stomberg travel because he has new knowledge about the Bughuul .

In his absence, Clint achieves a legal resolution and takes the children and wife home with him. It turns out that the ghost children work on behalf of the Bughuul and induce new children to kill their parents and siblings. But Dylan is not their goal, rather he should provoke his brother Zach, so that he carries out his work with even greater enthusiasm. Since Clint forbids the ex-deputy any contact, the latter almost despairs of the foreseeable consequences that threaten the Bughuul . But Dylan asks him for help via a text message.

Zach overpowered and crucified the other three family members. He is shooting everything on a Super 8 film on which he had previously recorded a picnic scene with the family. Zach sets fire to his father, who burns to death. When he tries to light a new fuse, he is hit by Soundo's car. So and so can Dylan and Courtney free and escape through a cornfield. Zach is on their heels with a sickle that severely injures the hand. They flee into the house and hide. The ghost children help him find it. So and so manages to destroy the Super 8 camera so that the film cannot be completed. This enrags the Bughuul , so that he kills Zach. The house goes up in flames. So and so, Courtney and Dylan can escape the fire.

In the final scene , the ex-deputy is in a motel room where the Bughuul suddenly appears.

criticism

The film got 12% out of 60 reviews on the Rotten Tomatoes movie review collections page .

“Sinister 2 is a worthy and exciting successor in many ways, which is recommended to both those who know the original and those who are not familiar with it. However, it is weakened by its predictability, taste for logic and an abstruse ending. In addition, the deepening of the mystery of Bughuul leads to many exciting new aspects, but also to a new focus that sometimes seems silly. "
