location
Badelachen is located on federal highway 84, barely six hundred meters east of the city limits of Vacha on the left high bank of the Werra . The geographic height of the place is 228 m above sea level. NN .
history
Badelachen was first mentioned in a document on August 31, 786.
In Mark Dorndorf , who was assigned to the Hersfeld monastery , the place Badelachen (Badelacha) formed an unequivocally localizable border point on the banks of the Werra. The historian Waldemar Küther sees Badelachen as an unpaved royal farm that was used for tourist traffic at this important ford point on the Werra. The Vacha ford, which is only about one kilometer away, and today's Werra bridge, was already in the hands of the Fulda Monastery at that time and, under the protection of Wendelstein Castle, became the starting point for the urban development of Vacha. Badelachen's special position as a hersfeld fiefdom was preserved until the 19th century and was not always an advantage for the place.
The association “Hofgemeinde Badelachen eV”, also known for its genealogical research, has written down the results of decades of research in a chronicle of Badelachen. The former owners of the courtyards, the structural development of the buildings and the parcels belonging to Badelachen were documented.
