Badendorf (desert)

Badendorf is a desert north of the Süßen Lake approx. 4 km west of Seeburg in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt . The village was on the rift on a slope north of the lake. Today there are vineyards around the village.

history

Badendorf was a German village during the Frankish settlement phase. Neuss indicates a time of origin in the 9th century and a presumed desert fall between the years 1468 and 1582.

Badendorf was mentioned in a document on June 10, 1320 with the name Badendorp , when it was given by the Counts of Mansfeld to Archbishop Burchard III. was acquired together with the house and court of Hedersleben . On 27 December 1337 two were then hooves and two farms in Badendorf by Count Burchard von Mansfeld at the request of the Conventual Heinrich concern the monastery Wimmelburg via suitable.

On June 16, 1420 in a deed of the division of inheritance of the County of Mansfeld u. a. the village of Badendorf named from accessories from Seeburg Castle . Likewise in 1446, when Archbishop Friedrich enfeoffed Count Günther, Gebhard and Volrad von Mansfeld with Seeburg Castle and Badendorff accessories . Also in the years 1523 it was named as a Bodendorf and again in 1582 as a bathing village as an accessory to Seeburg Castle.

Badendorf was probably abandoned due to the difficult management conditions of the fields belonging to the settlement. The inhabitants probably emigrated to Neehausen or Volkmaritz. According to reports, collapsed cellars and mouths of buildings in the desert were still visible in 1800.
