Badmaanyambuugiin Bat-Erdene ( Mongolian : Бадмаанямбуугийн Бат-Эрдэнэ ; born June 7, 1964 in Ömöndelger, Chentii-Aimag ) is a Mongolian wrestler , judoka and politician of the Mongolian People's Party (MVP) who has participated in several Olympic Summer Games since 2004 Great State Chural is. Life

Wrestlers and judoka

Badmaanyambuugiin Bat-Erdene graduated from secondary school in Ömöndelger in 1982 and became a wrestler and judoka in the sports club "Khuch" in 1983 . Al Ringer he took part in numerous competitions as part of the Naadam National Festival and won eleven titles. As a judoka in the heavyweight division, he first took part in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul and finished in 13th place. In 1989 he received the title of "Honored Athlete of Mongolia" and in 1990 the title of "Grand Master in Wrestling". In addition, he studied law at the military university in Ulaanbaatar and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA Legal Studies). At the Asian Games in Beijing in 1990 , he won the silver medal in the judo class over 95 kilograms and the bronze medal in the open class. At the Asian Judo Championships in Osaka in 1991 , he won the silver medal in the open class. For his services he was awarded the medal “80. Anniversary of the People's Revolution ”.

At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona , Bat-Erdene was the flag bearer of the Mongolian Olympic team at the opening ceremony and again took 17th place in heavyweight judo. At the Asian Judo Championships in Macau in 1993 , he won the bronze medal in the over 95 kilogram class and in the open class. At the subsequent Asian Games in Hiroshima in 1994 , he won the bronze medal in the class over 95 kilograms as well as in the open class. At the Asian Judo Championships in New Delhi in 1995, he again won a silver medal in the open class. He was vice-chairman and most recently until 2000 chairman of the sports club “Khuch”. In 1998 he received the title “Hero of Work” and between 1999 and 2004 he was the rector of the Institute for Physical Education “Avarga”, which trained wrestlers and coaches in particular. For his services he was awarded the medal “80. Anniversary of the People's Revolution ”. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney , he came in the judo heavyweight competitions in the second round.

MP, presidential candidate and minister of defense

In 2004, Badmaanyambuugiin Bat-Erdene became a member of the Grand State of Chural for the first time and has represented the interests of the Mongolian People's Party (MVP) there after his re-elections in 2008, 2012 and 2016 . In 2006 he was awarded the medal “800. Anniversary of the founding of the Great Mongol Empire ”. During his parliamentary membership, he was chairman of the Standing Committee on Legal Affairs between 2009 and 2012 and received the award for “Leaders in the Environmental Sector ” in 2012 as well as the “Süchbaatar Order” named after the founding father of the Mongolian People's Republic, Damdiny Süchbaatar .

On June 26, 2013, Bat-Erdene applied for the office of president of the Mongolian People's Party . He took second place with 42 percent of the vote after the re-elected incumbent Tsachiagiin Elbegdordsch of the Democratic Party , who received more than 50 percent of the vote. In third place came Natsagiin Udval with eight percent and a voter turnout of 65 percent.

After Dschargaltulgyn Erdenebat was elected as the new Prime Minister on July 7, 2016 with 68 out of 76 votes by the Grand State Chural , Badmaanyambuugiin Bat-Erdene was appointed and sworn in as Minister of Defense in his government on July 22, 2016, who also included Tsendiin Mönkh- Orgil as Foreign Minister, Sandagiin Byambatsogt as Interior Minister and Battogtokhyn Choijilsuren as Finance Minister. He held the office of Minister of Defense until October 4, 2017.
