Badow is a district of the community Schildenal in the southwest of the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

history

The municipality of Badow with the district Söhring, which was independent until June 6, 2009, was the smallest municipality in the Lützow-Lübstorf district . 372 inhabitants lived in the municipality (December 31, 2007) on 10.17 km². The last honorary mayor of Badow was Volker Schubert.

On June 7, 2009, the municipalities of Badow and Renzow were merged to form the new municipality of Badow-Renzow. The name was changed in the same year to Schildenal , after the Schilde river .

Badow is located on the upper shield , about 25 km west of Schwerin .

The road from Gadebusch via Lützow to Wittenburg leads 1.5 kilometers east of Badow. In Wittenburg, 15 kilometers to the south, there is a connection to the federal motorway 24 ( Hamburg - Berlin ).

The former Badow manor is well worth seeing . The Schaalsee biosphere reserve is nearby .
