The Bernburg-Friedenshall station was a stop in the Bernburg district of Friedenshall in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt . It was replaced by the Bernburg-Roschwitz stop, which opened in March 2020.

location

The breakpoint was in the southeast of the city of Bernburg, about four kilometers from the city center. There are only a few settlements in its immediate vicinity. It is located at 17.6 km of the Köthen – Aschersleben railway line and is crossed by Schachtstraße at a level crossing. The neighboring train stations are Bernburg and Baalberge . Both are about four kilometers away.

Designations

The name of the site changed a total of three times .

  • "Solvayhall" (October 1, 1897 - February 9, 1951)
  • "Friedenshall" (February 10, 1951 - September 25, 1958)
  • "Bernburg-Friedenshall" (from September 26, 1958)

history

The Solvay group strove for a tram connection for its plant. However, this has never been realized. In order to provide the employees with a better traffic connection, the plant had a stopping point built at its own expense. Construction work on it began in 1897. The breakpoint went into operation on October 1st of the same year. Initially, it was only allowed to be used by employees and was therefore not available to the public. As a result, there were complaints from the population. For this reason, the Prussian State Railways converted the stop into an official railway station. A handling building for ticket sales, express goods handling and a waiting hall were built for this purpose. These buildings were ceremoniously opened to the public on May 1st, 1911. The usable length of both outer platforms was 200 meters. The terminal building was built in the middle of this platform. To the north of the level crossing there was a service building and a gatekeeper booth. The express goods handling closed on February 1, 1963. Ticket sales ended in 1968. In the course of the renovation of the Baalberge station , the Deutsche Reichsbahn installed a half-barrier system. It is served by trains from the direction of Bernburg . In the other direction, the dispatcher in Baalberge operates them depending on the signal. The office building was also closed. The breakpoint has been vacant since then.

In February 2015, DB Station & Service AG applied for the construction of a new “Bernburg-Roschwitz” stop north of the Friedenshall stop. After its commissioning, the platforms of the existing stop are to be abandoned and their entire length will be dismantled later.

The new Bernburg-Roschwitz stop went into operation in mid-March 2020. The investment volume was 1.8 million euros.
