Railway stations in Saxony-Anhalt |
The station Güsten is a junction station in Güsten , a small town in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .
history
Güsten station was built in 1865 when the railway line from Bernburg to Aschersleben was opened . In the course of this route, the route towards Staßfurt was also built. In 1879 the cannon train followed from Berlin to Blankenheim. For this route, tracks were built on the other side of the reception building , making the station an island station . A large railway depot was also built in Güsten , which housed the locomotives for the Harz crossing. It was also known through the home of class 41 locomotives until the early 1990s.
In 1994 the Güsten depot became a branch of the Halberstadt depot before it was completely closed in 1996.
In 1998 passenger traffic on the Kanonenbahn in the direction of Barby was discontinued, in 2004 the line was closed. From 2000 the station was rebuilt, the tracks on the station side of the Berlin - Blankenheim line were removed and a bus station was built. From 2002 the rest of the station was also rebuilt.
The largest photovoltaic system of the DB AG was built on the site of the former railway depot by 2013.
In 2015 the station building was closed and has not been used since then, travelers had to take a detour via the Ascherslebener Straße level crossing to reach the platforms. For this reason, a new traveler crossing was created in 2017 . The reception building was auctioned in 2019. It is now to be renovated.
Of what was once six platform tracks, three still exist today, including a stump track .
