Renovation of the station 2010-2013

The new Bruck an der Mur train station - platform 1 and pedestrian bridge

Since the station from the 1960s was no longer up-to-date, it was decided to rebuild the station. Except for the tower, which was completely renovated, the station building was torn down and replaced by a modern glass structure of about the same size. The forecourt with bus stops and taxi stand was renewed and roofed over. The pedestrian tunnel was disabled expanded (including by installing eight lifts) and the platforms rehabilitated. The parking garage was provided with a direct connection to all six platforms by means of an overpass (footbridge). The groundbreaking ceremony took place in September 2010. First, platform 6 was closed and renewed, then the footbridge was built by mid-2012 in order to be able to renovate the old pedestrian tunnel. Finally, the station hall and forecourt were rebuilt. The new train station opened on August 27, 2013.
