The Chūō-Rinkan station ( Japanese 中央 林 間 駅 , Chūō-Rinkan-eki ) is a train station on the Japanese island of Honshū , which is operated jointly by the railway companies Odakyū Dentetsu and Tōkyū Dentetsu . The major transportation hub is located in Kanagawa Prefecture in the area of Yamato City .

Chūō-Rinkan is a crossing station where two lines cross on different levels. The Odakyū Enoshima line of the Odakyū Dentetsu railway company meets the Den'entoshi line of the Tōkyū Dentetsu . In terms of traffic volume, both have roughly the same meaning. All express trains of the Express and Rapid Express types stop here on the Enoshima line , which run from Shinjuku in central Tokyo and together form an approximate 20-minute cycle. On weekdays is Fujisawa the terminus, weekends and holidays go almost all express trains further to Katase-Enoshima . Local trains run every ten minutes and are mostly limited to the connection between Sagami-Ōno and Katase-Enoshima (the northern terminus of individual trains is Machida ).

On the Den'entoshi line, the western terminus is Chūō-Rinkan, day leave every hour 10 to 14 trains during the rush hour from 15 to 17. There are three types of trains, the express trains Express and Semi Express and local trains stopping at all stations . Almost all trains running on the Den'entoshi line trains are in Shibuya and from the Tokyo Metro Hanzōmon Line of the Tokyo subway by bound . Rolling stock from Tōkyū Dentetsu, Tōkyō Metro and Tōbu Tetsudō is used. In Oshiage , the other end of the Hanzōmon line, about half of all trains are forwarded to the Tōbu Tetsudō network. Three lines operated by the Yamato city bus stop at the station.

The tower station is in the center of the district of the same name. The above-ground through station of the Enoshima line is oriented from north to south . It has two tracks on two completely covered side platforms , which are connected by a covered overpass. The larger station building at the northern end of the western platform leads to a small forecourt. From the southern station building on the eastern platform you can get to the neighboring terminus of the Den'entoshi line, the ground floor of which serves as a distribution level . The second floor contains restaurants and shops. In the basement there are two butt- ended tracks facing west to east on a central platform .

In the 2018 fiscal year, an average of 202,336 passengers used the station every day. Of these, 105,121 were accounted for by the Tōkyū Dentetsu and 97,215 by the Odakyū Dentetsu.

history

The Odawara Kyūkō Tetsudō (today's Odakyū Dentetsu ) opened the station on April 1, 1929 together with the entire Odakyū Enoshima line . Initially it was called Chūō-Rinkantoshi ( 中央 林 間 都市 ) and in the following years enabled the development of a new garden city housing estate. This had been planned by the railway company for the purpose of generating passenger potential. On October 15, 1941, the name was changed to Chūō-Rinkan. In 1953, the Tōkyū Dentetsu presented the concept of the "Tama Garden City" in order to further advance suburbanization . The implementation of this plan, which also provided for the construction of new railway lines, took three decades. On April 9, 1984, the Tōkyū Dentetsu took the westernmost section of the Den'entoshi line between Tsukimino and Chūō-Rinkan into operation, making the station a transfer point.
