Railway stations and stops in Saxony |
The Eilenburg Ost railway station is one of two stations in the Saxon town of Eilenburg , in the district Eilenburg East area. It consists of the operating stations Station Eilenburg East on the railway line Pretzsch-Eilenburg and the breakpoint Eilenburg East Bk Hp on the railway line Halle (Saale) main station-Guben . There is no track connection between the two operating locations.
history
Eilenburg Ost station was built with the construction of the Pretzsch - Eilenburg branch line in 1895, but at one point before this line branches off from the Halle (Saale) Hbf - Guben line. The Eilenburg Ost train station was called Kültzschau in its early years because it was located near the village of Kültzschau, which was incorporated in 1864. In 1915, one year after the district was renamed Eilenburg-Ost, the station was also renamed Eilenburg Ost . The station name is still spelled according to the railway orthography and contrary to the official spelling without a hyphen. In the meantime, the district with residential and industrial development had expanded to the Ostbahnhof. On October 21, 1917, the future President of the GDR, Wilhelm Pieck , managed to escape from a prisoner transport at Eilenburg Ost train station. In 1998, the Landesverkehrsgesellschaft Sachsen canceled the scheduled passenger traffic provided by Deutsche Bahn on the Eilenburg Ost - Bad Düben section, since then there have been several special train services every year and since 2017 there has been regular weekend traffic again. During its existence, the station was exclusively used by regional trains. In the summer of 2010, a scene in the award-winning film Warrior was shot at the train station .
investment
The train station is in Eilenburg in the south of the Ost district at the end of Ostbahnhofstrasse. On the site there is a DB Netz operations building as well as a waiting room and a loading ramp, both of which are no longer used. Therefore, track 1 was no longer used as a loading platform and was finally dismantled in 2017. The single-storey station building, which was built in 1897 and covers an area of 122 square meters, has since been sold by DB, but is still without use. There is also a waiting building on the island platform between tracks 4 and 5, which has been closed without replacement since 2017.
From an operational point of view, the station is divided into two parts. Platforms 2 and 3 are on the Pretzsch - Eilenburg line. These two tracks are the actual train station . There are also entry and exit signals for this part of the system . The other two tracks 4 and 5 are part of the open line between Halle (Saale) Hbf and Guben. There are only two block signals east of the platforms. In book timetables , as well as in the EBuLa , this distinction is made clear by the information Eilenburg Ost for tracks 2 and 3 and Eilenburg Ost Hp for tracks 4 and 5. The dispatcher Eilenburg Ost is both for the Eilenburg Ost station and for the Eilenburg Ost block location responsible; He is also the alternate connection points of the gravel quarry Sprotta and cereal AG in consultation with the Train Manager of DRE in Pretzsch (Elbe) free.
The platform on track 2 has a usable length of 120 meters, the one on track 3 as well, the island platform on tracks 4 and 5 for track 4 is 179 meters and for track 5 is 184.5 meters. The platform on track 2 is 26 centimeters high, that on track 3 is 34 centimeters high and the island platform on tracks 4 and 5 is 38 centimeters high. Track 2 can currently only be used for entrances and exits to and from Eilenburg, as the Pretzsch (Elbe) switch can only be used on track 3. The platforms only have level access that is secured by a barrier system. This means that the station is largely barrier-free , but because of the low platforms, no step-free access to the trains is possible.
