Investments
The track systems of the station were significantly reduced. In 2018, the station still had two platform tracks with an outside platform and a central through track. The old house platform and the central platform between the former tracks 2 and 3 have been abandoned, remains of the central platform are still visible. A new platform was built on the track of the former track on the house platform. The south-eastern platform is covered, and access is via an underpass with a ramp. Parts of the former railway site are built over.
history
The construction of the railway for the Dransfelder Rampe as part of the Hanover Southern Railway began in the city of Münden in 1851. At times, up to 500 people were employed on the work. They carried out the necessary earth movements, including the filling of dams, with the help of push carts and earth trucks. After the Münden Werratal Bridge was completed in 1856, passenger traffic from Hanover to Münden began. The station building in Münden was built in 1857 as a simple brick building typical of the time, the planning of which was influenced by the architect Conrad Wilhelm Hase in an advisory capacity. The building was erected outside the city, as it was not possible to route into the far lower-lying place. The connection of the train station to the city by a new street initiated a brisk construction activity in the open area between the city and the train station, which resulted in the station district. Mainly public institutions got their seat there and manufacturer mansions were built. Numerous industrial companies settled at the station, which had become too cramped in the densely built-up city center.
In 2005, the station building was completely renovated after its privatization for 780,000 euros.
