The Mindelheim train station is the station of the district town of Mindelheim in Unterallgäu . It is located about one kilometer east of the historic old town.
description
The station is on the Augsburg – Lindau railway line and is one of the endpoints of the Mittelschwabenbahn , which leads via Krumbach to Günzburg .
The station has three tracks. Track 1 is built as a house platform, tracks 2 and 4 can be reached through an underpass. Trains leave platform 1 in the direction of Günzburg and Memmingen to keep platform two free for a Eurocity to pass through. If this is not the case, the train to Memmingen or Lindau stops on platform 2, the train to Munich or Augsburg stops on platform 4.
Two machines and a ticket office are available to buy tickets.
The regional express trains usually consist of a class 218 or 245 locomotive and double-decker cars . The station is also used by class 642 , 612 multiple units and, from time to time, the 628 series . Until December 2014, n-type cars were used instead of double-decker cars .

Station building
In the lower area of the station building there is a restaurant, the dispatcher's office, a counter, two kiosks and a waiting hall. Above the building contains apartments. The building is in poor condition. This can be seen in the fact that the plaster is crumbling off the outer walls and the brick is exposed. The newly built underpass is sprayed with graffiti .

Three SBB Eurocity train pairs on line 88 travel through Mindelheim daily in the direction of Munich and Zurich, but without stopping. In addition, the regional trains from / to Munich / Memmingen and Augsburg / Memmingen meet in Mindelheim every 30 minutes in the morning and in the evening.
A train from Kempten has been arriving in Mindelheim via Memmingen since December 2011 in order to avoid long idle times. He drives back to Memmingen empty.
Renovation 2007/08
In 2007/08, the outdoor facilities of the station were renovated and rebuilt at a cost of around eight million euros.
For reasons of space, three of the formerly four tracks are still available. A pedestrian underpass from Bahnhofstrasse to Allgäuer Strasse and a street underpass one kilometer further west were also built; the level crossing of the old federal highway 16 was removed.
future
In 2008 an agreement was signed in Memmingen that the lines between Munich and Zurich are to be electrified and expanded for tilting technology , including Buchloe – Memmingen and the Mindelheim station, from which the diesel-powered Mittelschwabenbahn will continue to branch off. There are also plans to build a central bus station on the station forecourt and to move the parking lot further west.
The station is to be integrated into the regional S-Bahn Donau-Iller on the Ulm - Neu-Ulm - Günzburg - Krumbach - Mindelheim - Memmingen line from 2020 to 2025 .
