The Nur-Sultan station ( Kazakh Астана станциясы or Астана вокзалы , Russian Железнодорожный вокзал Астаны ) is the station of the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan and includes a marshalling yard (until 2019 Astana) . It is operated by the Kazakh state railway company Temir Scholy, Kazakhstan .

With its 6,300 passengers daily, it is one of the most frequented train stations in the country.

The station is a through station and is located in the northwest of the city, not far from the Kulyash Bayseitova National Opera and the bus station . The orientation of the station runs in a north-west-south-east direction.

When the first 9.5 km long section of the Astana light rail went into operation in 2012, the station was connected with the old center north of the Ishim and the new government district south of the Ishim.

The main station facilities are the passenger station and the marshalling yard parallel to it on its north side.

Despite its relatively great importance, the passenger station has only three platform tracks . Immediately to the east of it is a smaller butt-ended track harp for parking passenger trains.

The marshalling yard has an automated drainage hill towards the west with 21 direction tracks . A depot is located at the western head of the station.

Nur-Sultan is an important traffic junction in rail traffic both in north-south (from Petropawl to Almaty and Tashkent ) and in east-west (from Moscow to China ).

Domestic connections to Almaty , Qostanai , Pavlodar , Aqtöbe , Qaraghandy and Kokshetau are offered. There are connections to Russia in the cities of Moscow , Saint Petersburg , Novokuznetsk and Omsk . In addition, Nur-Sultan is connected to the Central Asian capitals of Bishkek and Tashkent . There are further connections to the Ukrainian capital Kiev and the Chinese city of Urumqi .
