Hibiya Line platform

In the Roppongi subway station, two lines cross on different levels. The Hibiya Line , operated by Tōkyō Metro, runs from northwest to south, and the Toei Subway's Toedo Line runs from west to east . Both lines have two tracks on side platforms and their own distribution levels , which are linked by connecting tunnels. The platforms of the Ōedo line are 42.3 meters below the earth's surface, making them the deepest of all Japanese subways.

In the 2018 fiscal year, an average of 242,743 passengers used the subway station every day. Of these, 138,950 were on Tōkyō Metro and 103,793 on Toei.

Several bus stops near the subway station are served by seven lines operated by Toei Bus , Chibus and Nishi Tokyo Bus . Major attractions in the area include the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower and Tokyo Midtown skyscrapers , TV Asahi Broadcasting Center , Mori Art Museum and the National Art Center .

history

On March 25, 1964, the Teito Kōsokudo Kōtsū Eidan ( Eidan for short, known since the privatization in 2004 as Tōkyō Metro ) a six-kilometer section of the Hibiya line from Kasumigaseki to Ebisu . In 1994, Eidan began expanding the underground station, which included new entrances and wider platforms. After seven years, construction work was completed in March 2001 and the cost of the project was 3.97 billion yen . Three months earlier, the Tokyo Prefecture Transportation Office (Toei) opened on December 12, 2000 a 25.4 km long section of the Ōedo Line from Kokuritsu-kyōgijō-mae to Tochōmae . This made Roppongi a transfer station.
