The Rumeln stop is in the Rumeln-Kaldenhausen district of Duisburg in the Rheinhausen district .
Location and structure
The breakpoint is located in the east of the Rumeln-Kaldenhausen district south of Toeppersee . It has a central platform on the VzG route 2330 ( Rheinhausen - Xanten - Kleve ). The VzG route 2340 ( Trompet - Abzw Duisburg-Mühlenberg), which is used exclusively for rail freight transport , runs parallel to this route . The Rumeln reception building from 1904 is located near the Bahnhofstrasse underpass. It will be used by a restaurant in 2020.
history
The municipalities of Rumeln and Kaldenhausen, which were merged in 1934, began negotiating with the Krefeld Railway Operations Office in 1885 to set up stops. However, since the municipalities did not want to contribute to the costs, the project did not materialize for the time being. In 1888 Kaldenhausen agreed to provide 300 marks , which was met with the opening of a stop on the Uerdingen - Homberg route . With the construction of the Rheinhausen - Kleve branch line , the Rumeln stop went into operation on December 23, 1903. From February 15, 1904, the operation center for luggage traffic was set up, and in April of the same year construction of a reception building began.
Between 1918 and 1921, the section of the route between the neighboring branches of the Borgschenhof branch and the Trompet train station was brought to the embankment and the level crossings removed.
passenger traffic
The station is served hourly by the regional train line RB 31 "Der Niederrheiner" . The line connects Rumeln with Duisburg Central Station and Xanten . On weekdays, the line is compressed to a 30-minute cycle between Duisburg Hbf and Moers . Since the timetable change on December 13, 2009, the line has been operated by NordWestBahn .
The 924 bus operated by Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft (as of 2020) also stops at Rumeln train station . There are a few park-and-ride areas near the train station.
