The Selva station is the station of the city Selva in the Saxon Ore Mountains . From 1892 to 1986 the narrow-gauge railway branched off here to Jöhstadt , which is known today as the “Preßnitztalbahn”.

location

The station is located southwest of the city on the banks of the Zschopau between the federal highway 101 in the west and the river in the east. On the other bank of the Zschopau, the Wolkenstein Castle rises on a steep rocky slope .

history

The Selva station was opened on February 1, 1866 with the standard gauge railway line Annaberg-Buchholz unt Bf-Flöha. In 1892 the narrow-gauge railway Wolkenstein – Jöhstadt was opened to Jöhstadt . She left the station on a three- rail track about 1.5 kilometers in the direction of Annaberg-Buchholz . Only at the confluence of the Preßnitz in the Zschopau did the normal-gauge and narrow-gauge tracks separate.

The normal and narrow gauge sections lay side by side, the narrow gauge section was east of the city on the Zschopau. At that time the station had twelve tracks. A reloading hall and a loading ramp were located between the normal and narrow gauge sections. In addition to the station building northeast of the standard gauge section, which is still in existence today, the station also has a residential building, several goods sheds, a loading ramp and several signal boxes. After the narrow-gauge Pressnitz Valley Railway was shut down in 1986, the narrow-gauge tracks were removed from the station. The last remains of the three-rail track in the station exit disappeared when the line was renovated after 2001.

The station building is now trackless, there is a central platform with a historic platform roof. Access is at ground level, until 2007 there was an underpass from the station building. In the narrow-gauge section there was a water station with an attached locomotive shed that still exists today. All standard-gauge siding except the crossing track and a siding in the southern exit have been removed, but there are standard-gauge siding in the former narrow-gauge section.

Today the "Wolkensteiner Zughotel" is located on the area of the Selva train station, which offers refreshment stops and overnight stays in original carriages. After the upper section of the Preßnitztalbahn was rebuilt as a museum railway, a historical rail replacement service with buses between Wolkenstein and Steinbach takes place on the days of travel of the narrow-gauge railway as a feeder from Wolkenstein station .

In the 2017 annual timetable, Wolkenstein is served by the trains on the RB 517 ( Chemnitz Hbf - Annaberg-Buchholz - Cranzahl ) of the Erzgebirgsbahn every hour on weekdays and every two hours on weekends. The trains in Selva cross every half hour for the usual minute of symmetry .
