The Preßnitz (Czech: Přísečnice or Přísečný potok ) is a right tributary of the Zschopau in Saxony and the Czech Republic .
course
The Preßnitz rises in the Bohemian Ore Mountains in the Rote Sudel near Ober Hals ( Horní Halže ), northwest of the mountain town of Kupferberg ( Měděnec ).
In its upper reaches through the mining area of Orpus ( Mezilesí u Přisečnice ) to the confluence of the Hammerbach (Hamerský potok) coming from Dörnsdorf (Dolina) it was previously called Hammerlebach .
In the further course of Preßnitz north once housed the old mountain town Preßnitz (Přísečnice) that including the neighboring towns in 1973 Reisch village was (Rusová) and Dörnsdorf (Dolina) given to jam in their place the Preßnitz and a dam to erect. In 1976 the construction of the Preßnitz drinking water dam (vodní nádrž Přisečnice) was completed. North of the dam on the border with Saxony is the place Christophhammer (Kryštofovy Hamry), in which one of the seven blue color works in Bohemia , the blue color works Christophhammer was.
At Schmalzgrube , the first Saxon town on the Preßnitz, the black water coming from Jöhstadt flows into it .
The Andreas-Gegentrum-Stolln mine is on the way to Steinbach in the Preßnitz Valley . Because of the locally existing iron ore deposits , the strong water power and the simple acquisition of wood in the surrounding forests, numerous hammer mills were in operation along the Preßnitz until the 19th century , for example in Schmalzgrube, Ober- , Mittel- and Niederschmiedeberg . From 1955 to 2001, refrigerators were produced in Niederschmiedeberg ; In 1993, the first CFC and HFC- free refrigerator was developed under the brand name FORON .
The Rauschenbach coming from Arnsfeld flows into Niederschmiedeberg . In Streckewalde the flows from Mildenau coming Sandbach to. Shortly thereafter, the Preßnitz flows into the Zschopau south of the city of Selva .
Pressnitz Valley Railway
Between 1892 and 1986 the narrow-gauge railway from Wolkenstein to Jöhstadt ran parallel to the Preßnitz between Wolkenstein and Jöhstadt . After its closure, a hiking and cycling path was created between Wolkenstein and Steinbach on the former embankment, from which the course of the Preßnitz can be easily followed. On the Steinbach – Jöhstadt section, the Preßnitztalbahn museum railway - again with a gauge of 750 mm - was built on the old embankment between 1995 and 2000 .
natural reserve
Almost all areas that surround their course in Saxony and its tributaries were designated as areas of community importance in 2011. This natura 2000 or FFH area "Preßnitz- und Rauschenbachtal" is about 850 hectares. Conservation objectives are, in particular, the habitat types rich in species of arboreal grass lawns , riparian perennials as well as the surrounding mountain hay meadows and stocks of the great mouse-eared mouse , brook lamprey and bullhead . In the south, the Preßnitztal lies partly at the same time in the European bird sanctuary "Erzgebirgskamm bei Statung", which has been in existence since 2007 and extends to 4700 hectares to the east , in which, for example, the species tree falcon, snipe, black grouse, kingfisher, woodlark, lapwing, red backed shrike, eagle owl , Corncrake, honey buzzard, miniature flycatcher and the wryneck were detected.
