Bernd Schreiter (born April 21, 1962 in Annaberg-Buchholz ) is a German homeland researcher .

Life

The trained bricklayer Schreiter lives in the Erzgebirge forest hoof village of Arnsfeld , where he works as a local writer. Since 1986 he has worked at the Erzgebirge Museum in Annaberg-Buchholz, where he is employed as a museum guide in the Frohnauer Hammer technical monument . Schreiter headed the genealogical working group Annaberg-Buchholz , which was founded in 1986, within the Kulturbund of the GDR . In 1991 he was one of the founding members of the Adam Ries Association , of which he is a board member. Schreiter is active in the working group Annaberg-Buchholzer Heimatforscher, in the Freundeskreis Julius Weisbach and for the Preßnitztalmuseum in Niederschmiedeberg . He is the author or editor of over 50 books and brochures on local history, some of which he published himself . The thematic focus of his research lies in the area between Annaberg-Buchholz and the Preßnitztal .

He is a descendant of the arithmetic master Adam Ries in the 15th generation and a second cousin of the mathematician Rainer Gebhardt .

Honors

In recognition of his “extensive activities in the development and profiling of the Adam Ries Association as well as for his genealogical and local history research”, Schreiter was awarded an Adam Ries Special Prize on September 27, 2008.
