Annaberger Wochenblatt

The Annaberger Wochenblatt was a daily newspaper in the region of the Upper Ore Mountains . It existed from 1807 to 1945 and was revived as an online newspaper in Annaberg-Buchholz in 2011 .

history

In 1668 the Vogtlander David Nicolai (he probably comes from Weida ) founded a printing company in Annaberg, which was taken over by Viktorin Richter after his death in 1701. His son-in-law, August Valentin Friese, inherited it in 1722. After his death, his son Gottlob August Friese took over the printing company in 1772, which he owned until his death in 1784. Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Hasper took over the business from his heirs in 1790 by means of a purchase agreement. Hasper is considered the nestor of the press in the Ore Mountains. He founded the Annaberger Wochenblatt on September 12, 1807 . In 1820 his son, Ludwig Hasper, took over the printing and publishing house.

Forty years later, Hasper sold to Karl August Teutsch from Weißenfels , who, however, was more involved with book publishing, so that a second printing company in Annaberg, founded in 1861 by Viktor Gottschalch from Lichtenstein in the Ore Mountains, took over printing the newspaper until 1871.

Then Gottschalch took over the business together with Karl Ludwig Schreiber (the son-in-law of Gustav Hermann Köselitz ). His son, Carl Oswald Schreiber, ran the publishing house and printer from January 17, 1885 (father's death date) and published the Annaberger Wochenblatt until it was sold to Felix Tallwitz on October 1, 1900. The publisher from Döbeln changed the design of the newspaper slightly and added the word Tageblatt to the title , as it had been produced as a daily newspaper using the rotary printing process since July 1892 . TAW was used as a well-known abbreviation.

Almost 100 years later, the paper was again in the hands of the Schreiber family in almost unchanged form. After the National Socialist synchronization of the media in 1933, the TAW also became a mouthpiece for the NSDAP . Since June 3, 1941, due to the war, the newspaper appeared combined with the Obererzgebirgische Zeitung from Buchholz, founded in 1854, and other papers from Geyer , Ehrenfriedersdorf , Thum , Bärenstein , Crottendorf and Oberwiesenthal . During the Second World War the number of pages was reduced. As of February 6, 1945, the issues consisted of only one sheet. On May 26, 1945, the newspaper ceased to appear.

The Tageblatt Annaberger Wochenblatt was also the official gazette for the royal city authorities until 1918 . In the subtitle it was called Hauptzeitung des Obererzgebirge .

Since December 18, 2011 the Annaberger Wochenblatt has been published as an online edition. The media owner and publisher was the journalist and publisher Gotthard B. Schicker until his death in 2017 . The online magazine continues to appear, now under the editorship of his widow Eveline Schicker.
