The Black Water ( Černá Voda in Czech ) is a left tributary of the Preßnitz in Saxony and the Czech Republic .
course
The black water rises in the Bohemian Ore Mountains southeast of Háj and flows in a northeastern direction.
The old mountain village of Kovářská extends in the valley of the Black Water . Below the city, water is fed to the Preßnitz dam through a transfer . On the further course of the river is the place Černý Potok (German: Pleil-Sorgenthal), before the black water crosses the state border with Saxony .
On the Saxon side of the river there are still the areas of the Jöhstadt villages Dürrenberg and Schlössel , which, despite the colloquial name, are not districts of Jöhstadt before the Schwarzwasser in the Jöhstadt district of Schmalzgrube flows into the Preßnitz.
Between the state border Bohemia-Saxony (between 1894 and 1963), now from the Dürrenberg area and the confluence of the Schwarzwasser into the Preßnitz, the Preßnitztalbahn runs about 4 kilometers directly parallel to the river and crosses it a total of four times.
Flood
In the evening hours of July 20, 1955, heavy rain occurred in the Fichtelberg area , which caused heavy flooding in the Schwarzwassertal. Seven people died in the two-meter-high tidal wave, and traffic on the Preßnitztalbahn was interrupted for four weeks due to the damage to the track.
