The list of train stations and stops in Bayreuth contains the former ten train stations and stops in Bayreuth , four of which are still in operation today.

The Bayreuth train stations remained the terminus for most trains despite the many railway lines touching Bayreuth. Not least because of the consistently single-track routes, passenger train traffic largely passed Bayreuth. During the festival season , however, the city was the destination of many special trains and through coaches.

In Bayreuth Hauptbahnhof three main railways are linked: of New Market - Wirsberg coming the lease railway from 1853, from grazing the Eastern Railway from 1863 and from the direction of Nuremberg from Schnabelwaid the forth Fichtel mountain railway , which was opened on 15 July. 1877

With the lines to Warmensteinach and Hollfeld , two branch lines were added as branch lines on August 15, 1896 and March 12, 1904, the latter also using the track of the railway to Schnabelwaid as far as the Kreuzstein junction. The railway leading from Bayreuth-Altstadt to Thurnau , whose trains also began and ended in the main train station, completed the Bayreuth network on September 26, 1909. There were no through trains to Kulmbach on this route, traffic was broken in Thurnau. The faster main route via Neuenmarkt was used from Bayreuth to Kulmbach.

The establishment of a Dürschnitz stop on the parallel lines from Kirchenlaibach and Schnabelwaid is occasionally discussed.

Old town

The station was put into operation in 1904 with the opening of the railway line to Hollfeld. On March 29, 1907, the Altenstadt train station near Bayreuth was renamed Old Town Bayreuth . The tourist traffic was given up on September 28, 1975, the freight traffic ended in 1994. Some of the tracks have been dismantled. Part of the station building is still there. Bayreuth Altstadt is not located at the historic center, but on the edge of the incorporated suburb with the former name Altenstadt , from the 19th century it was called Altstadt .

Hermitage

The station was set up on December 1, 1910 as a stop on the Eastern Railway , which opened in 1863 . It became a train station when a second track was built in 1939, and a signal box was also built. Both were dismantled in 1971 and the station was finally shut down in 1973. The station building was demolished, and the trains have passed the place without stopping since then.

Friedrichsthal (b Bayreuth)

The breakpoint has existed since the opening of the railway line to Warmensteinach in 1904. The track systems were never expanded, so that the breakpoint did not become a train station.

Fantaisie-Eckersdorf

The stop was subsequently set up on the railway line to Hollfeld to develop the villages of Eckersdorf and Donndorf (with Fantaisie Palace and Park). It was located far away from these places between the siding of the brickworks and the Geigenreuth estate. With the closure of the railway line, the stop was also closed. The track systems have been dismantled, only the edge of the platform is still there.

Central Station

On November 18, 1853, the main station was opened as the terminus of the railway line to Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg. This was built as a leased railway because the city of Bayreuth financed the construction of the railway line. In Bayreuth, the railway facilities had not yet been completed, so a temporary construction hut had to serve as the station. The right station building could go into operation in 1857. With the opening of the railway line to Weiden in the Upper Palatinate, the station became a through station on December 1, 1863 . On July 15, 1877, the railway line to Schnabelwaid was added. To avoid capacity bottlenecks, the entire station area was rebuilt in 1879. The reception building that still exists today was built at that time. The old building was still used as a post office . In addition, facilities for freight traffic were built in the station, from which the freight station was created. This was northeast of the station and had several loading and stabling tracks. The freight hall and the adjacent loading tracks have been removed since 1996.

Herzoghöhe

The Herzoghöhe station was put into operation with the opening of the line to Kulmbach in 1909. There was a through track and a loading track. Traffic on the railway line and at the station was stopped on June 3, 1973. The station facilities have been dismantled.

Kreuzstein station 1986

The Kreuzstein station, opened in 1904, was a two-track station. The second track, however, was less used for train crossings than for smooth traffic to the nearby freight connections. After 1965 the western switch was dismantled and the station was downgraded to a stop. All switches were hand-set, the only building was a brick waiting hall. The station facilities have been completely dismantled.

Laineck

The breakpoint was created in 1896 with the opening of the railway line to Warmensteinach. The station did not become very important and always remained a stopping point.

Rohrensee

On March 12, 1904, with the opening of the railway line to Hollfeld, a stop was built at Röhrensee , not least because of the recreation area and the military facilities. During the First World War, the Röhrensee stop was also used to transport the wounded to the nearby military hospital on today's Hegelstrasse. The station facilities were dismantled on September 28, 1975 after the line and the stop were closed.

St. Georgen

In 1904, the Sankt Georgen stop was opened as a train station on the railway line to Warmensteinach. The second track was dismantled after 2001, so that the station became a stop. The station building was demolished.
