Shiraz

The Badrud – Shiraz railway line is a single-track railway line in Iran .

Traffic geography

The route is the southern part of the Tehran - Qom - Isfahan - Shiraz connection . It branches off from the Qom – Zahedan railway line in Badrud and leads to Shiraz via Isfahan. From here it is to be extended to the Persian Gulf with the Shiraz – Asaluyeh railway line .

history

The line was opened between Bardud and Sistan in 1970 and extended to Isfahan in 1979. From there, an extension to Riz followed in several steps in the 1980s . Operations on the newly built line to Shiraz began in early 2012.

traffic

Initially, there was a continuous connection over the entire route to Tehran only twice a week. A higher frequency of the offer initially failed due to the insufficient number of cars available . Today a pair of trains is offered here every day, as well as on a few days on the Isfahan – Tehran route. The travel time is 16 hours.

Buildings

The station building of the terminal station of Shiraz is the largest of the Iranian State Railways (RAI) after the Tehran station .
