The Smętowo – Szlachta railway is a former railway line in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship .

course

Skórcz railway station (2010)

Passing over from the Marienwerder – Schmentau railway line , the line began at Smętowo station (Schmentau; km 75.596) on the Chorzów – Tczew railway line and ran westward via Skórcz (Skurz / Groß Wollental), the start of the Skórcz – Skarszewy railway line , to Szlachta station (km 122,250), which in German times was named not after Schlachta (Polish Szlachta ), but after Königsbruch (Polish Lipowa ). It is located on the Laskowice Pomorskie – Bąk railway , from which there was a connection, formerly the Gleisdreieck , to the Nowa Wieś Wielka – Gdynia railway .

The kilometering of the route is due to the fact that it once ran continuously from Miswalde . Although the route has not started there since 1945 and has also been permanently interrupted between Marienwerder and Münsterwalde since 1947, the zero point of the kilometering is still in Miswalde ( Myślice in Polish ). The eastern part between Riesenburg ( Prabuty in Polish ) and Marienwerder ( Kwidzyn in Polish ) was given the number 218, the western part between Münsterwalde ( Opalenie Tczewskie in Polish ) and Königsbruch number 238.

history

The Schmentau – Skurz section was opened on October 1, 1902 as a branch line of the Prussian State Railways , the continuation to Königsbruch follows on August 20, 1908. With the cession of the Polish Corridor in 1920, the line came to the Polish State Railways for the first time after the end of the German occupation Poland 1939-1945 in the Second World War, during which it belonged to the Deutsche Reichsbahn , again. On May 29, 1994 the passenger traffic was stopped. The line between Skórzc and Szlachta was closed in 1999, between Smętowo and Skórcz in 2000.
