The bier forms at Gersdorf (municipality of Bahretal ) from three further source streams: at the sand mill from the Wingersdorf stream, at the falcon mill from the Gersdorfer stream and at the level of the Bornmühle from the Borna stream.
Above Friedrichswalde-Ottendorf (municipality of Bahretal ), the stretcher is dammed by a retention basin . The crown is 253 m long and lies at an altitude of 263 m above sea level. NN. The wall has a height of 20 m.
To the north of Friedrichswalde-Ottendorf, the 325 m long and up to 28 m high Bahretal bridge spans the valley. The S170 state road runs across the bridge as a cross connection from the 17 federal motorway to the S173 state road in Cotta.
After 16 km the stretcher ends at a height of 150 m above sea level. NN in Pirna between the districts of Beimendorf and Zehista in the Seidewitz .
Surname
The name is derived from the Old High German “bar” (as much as empty) and “para” (as much as nakedness, forest nakedness, aborted forest) and thus means empty area, wasteland or forest nakedness. The source of the bier lies on such an empty area or forest bare.
