Baierberg is a district of the market town of Mering in the Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg .
location
The church village is located on an open corridor east of the Meringer Hart forest , about 4.5 miles from Mering and 16 km southeast of Augsburg . A source brook of the Wachtmannbach rises in Baierberg and flows to the couple via the Steinbach .
history
The area was already settled in the Latène period, as some finds show. Traces of the Roman Empire can also be found on the Schlossberg , one and a half kilometers to the west .
The village church of St. Kastulus, which was last renovated in 1974, has been preserved from 1681. A previous building erected between 1540 and 1600 was burned down in the Thirty Years' War around 1630.
Around 1800 the place consisted of 15 courtyards. At the western end of the village there is a small chapel built in 1863. See also → List of architectural monuments in Baierberg
Until the municipal reform , Baierberg was an independent municipality with the district of Oberdorf . It was dissolved in the course of the municipal reform on July 1, 1972 and Baierberg was incorporated into Mering. Oberdorf came to the neighboring community of Mittelstetten .
Infrastructure
Baierberg has a predominantly agricultural structure; there is a construction company, but only a few housing developments. Local roads lead via Meringerzell to Mering and the surrounding villages.
