Baileyton is located in northern Alabama in the southern United States. It is located approximately 45 kilometers east of the 733 square kilometer William B. Bankhead National Forest .
Nearby places include Fairview (3 km west), Arab (5 km northeast), Holly Pond (6 km south) and Eva (9 km northwest). The next larger city is Huntsville, about 30 kilometers to the north with 170,000 inhabitants .
history
Baileyton was founded in 1870 when a Georgia farmer settled here.
The city was originally part of Blount County , but was incorporated into the newly formed Cullman County in 1877 . The first post office was opened in 1882 or 1883, and the first school followed around 1885.
