Bajgora ( Albanian also Bajgorë , Serbian - Cyrillic Бајгора ) is a village in northern Kosovo and belongs to the municipality of Mitrovica e Jugut .
geography
Bajgora is located 16 kilometers northeast of the city of Mitrovica in the highlands of Shala e Bajgorës, which extends between the cities of Mitrovica, Vushtrria and Podujeva . Bajgora has a bus stop on the R-129 towards Mitrovica and Podujeva. The village has a school and two restaurants, one of which is a hotel. Not far is the Barel summit .
history
As part of the Kosovo war, an education or training camp existed from July 1998 in Bajgora the KLA .
In March and April 1999, Serbian troops forced Albanian civilians in Vushtrria and the surrounding villages to leave their homes and apartments. Some of them found refuge in Bajgora, as the area was controlled by the KLA at the time. On May 2, 1999, an offensive by the Serbian armed forces against the KLA on the front line near Bajgora triggered a massive wave of internally displaced persons ( see also: Boshlan ).

The 2011 census recorded 1098 inhabitants for Bajgora. Of these, 1,097 identified themselves as Albanians (99.90%). There is no information about ethnicity for a resident.
