Baka to Test to Shōkanjū ( Japanese バ カ と テ ス ト と 召喚 獣 , dt. "Idiots and tests and summoned beasts"), BakaTest for short ( バ カ テ ス ト ), is a media franchise based on the light novel series of the same name Kenji Inoue is based. The book series has been published by Enterbrain since January 2007 with the imprint Famitsu Bunko and is expected to end on November 30, 2013 with the publication of the 12th volume. It was adapted, among other things, through several manga series, an anime television series consisting of two seasons and an OVA series.

action

The focus of the action is the boy Akihisa Yoshii, who is all too often referred to as "Baka" (dt. Idiot). He attends a school where the students are assigned to the appropriate classes from A to F based on the latest test results. While the students with the best grades are accepted into the A-class, whose classroom is equipped with all imaginable amenities, the F-classroom has neither heating nor chairs, instead of desks it uses discarded room tables, which often fall apart on their own. and has no other amenities to offer. The rooms of the other grade levels are accordingly always one level more comfortable. Another special feature of the school is that all students can summon a "beast" ( Shōkanjū , a picture of themselves, illustrated as a chibi shape of the characters). A rule of the school says that the classes can use these creatures to fight against each other. The winner has the right to take the classroom at another level. There is a catch, however. The creatures are initially only as strong as the students performed on their last test. However, students can also withdraw from a fight and take a test. The better you do, the more life points your creature gets.

The action begins when the clever girl Mizuki Himeji faints during a test of illness. Due to the strict rules, this is rated with zero points and so she finds herself in the F-class together with Akihisa. There they are surrounded by a few friends of Akihisa as well as by the “last dregs” of the school, with whom they are trying to build a better classroom. They are led by the class representative Yūji Sakamoto, who determines the strategy of the fighting. They get support from the Bishōjo Minami Shimada, the perverted Kōta Tsuchiya and the very feminine looking Hideyoshi Kinoshita.

The anime alluded to Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei again in various scenes . In various scenes the backgrounds were provided with a polka-dot pattern, the patterns of the clothing remained static (i.e. they did not move with the characters, as was regularly the case with Nozomu Itoshiki's kimono ) and there were various typical exclamations reproduced.
