Balthasar Ludwig Tralles

Balthasar Ludwig Tralles (also Balthasar Ludovicus Tralles , born March 1, 1708 in Breslau , Hereditary Principality of Breslau ; † February 7, 1797 ibid) was a German medic and doctor in Breslau.

Life

Balthasar Ludwig Tralles was a son of the Breslau merchant Johann Christian Tralles. After graduating from the Elisabetgymnasium in Breslau , he studied medicine at the universities in Leipzig and Halle . In 1731 he received his doctorate in Halle . In 1734 he was the medical companion of August Christoph von Wackerbarth . He then worked as a doctor in Breslau. In 1741 he became court advisor and first assessor and later for a short time dean of the Collegium Medicum in Breslau. In 1767 he became a personal physician at the court of Saxe-Gotha . In addition to medical works, Tralles also published works that were critical of literature and worked as a poet.

On September 5, 1755, Balthasar Ludwig Tralles with the academic surname Avenzoar II was accepted as a member ( matriculation no. 598 ) in the Leopoldina . In 1763 he became a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . On October 6, 1791 he became a foreign member of the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences .

The physician Johann Christian Tralles was his grandfather.
