Balthazar

For the family cf. Main article: Hanau (noble family)

Balthasar wasn't married. From 1529 he worked as a co-guardian for his nephew, Count Philip III. von Hanau-Münzenberg , whose father died early. In the spirit of his brother, he continued work on the Hanau city fortifications , which were supplemented by a fastening ring according to the latest technical standards of the Renaissance .

Balthasar also died early, as did many male members of the von Hanau-Münzenberg family . He was buried in the choir of the Marienkirche in Hanau. A half-length portrait of him in stone adorned a Hanau city gate until it was demolished in the 18th century. The portrait came into the possession of the Hanau History Association and was destroyed in the bombing raid on the city of Hanau on March 19, 1945. Only drawings have been preserved.
