Banal Hussar Regiment

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The regimental founder, Banus Count Karl Josef Batthyány

The regiment was a cavalry unit that was established in 1750 as a banal hussar for the imperial Habsburg army . In 1769 the regiment was added to the cavalry rankings as Cavalry Regiment No. 42 and dissolved again in 1780.

The following numbering was subsequently introduced for the system: 1750/1 (to Ticino ), Grenzhusarenregiment H III (to Bleckwenn ).

The border regiments did not use the name of a regiment owner (if one existed), but a regional designation. The term "banal" is derived from Ban or Banus .

Establishment

  • In 1750 the regiment was set up by the Banus Count Batthyány with a stand of six companies (three squadrons) throughout Croatia .
  • In 1779 the workforce was reduced to two squadrons
  • In 1780 the regimental association was dissolved and the hussars were assigned to the two Banal infantry regiments.
  • In 1786 the remaining hussars had to change to other hussar regiments, the regiment was now formally dissolved.
