The Banjul Breweries Limited is Gambia's largest beverage company with the production site in Serekunda - Kanifing in Kombo-St. Mary Area / Greater Banjul Area . The Banjul Breweries is mainly known for the beer brand Julbrew , which is not only drunk by tourists in Gambia, but also occasionally by the predominantly Muslim population.

The planning for the construction of the production plant began in 1975 and the first production started in 1977. The brewery has a maximum capacity of 50,000 hectoliters . The production volume, which is heavily dependent on the tourist industry, is currently 35,000 hectoliters.

The majority of the shares are held by the German Brauhaase International Management GmbH and DAH, (both Hamburg), while the accounting is carried out by the Gambian government. The brewery currently employs around 110 Gambian employees and two foreign employees.
