The neo-renaissance building was built for the Bank of Scotland in 1846. It served as the headquarters of the bank in Perth. It is on St John's Street across from St John's Church in the historic city center. The Scottish architect David Rhind is responsible for the design in the style of Italian Renaissance architecture . The masonry consists of stone blocks with raised corner stones . The west-facing main facade of the three-story building is five axes wide. Doric pilasters flank the entrance doors on either side. They have crowning cornices . A stone balustrade runs on the base cornice between the doors . The windows on the first floor are designed in the style of aedicules with Corinthian pilasters and crowning triangular gables . A balcony with a stone balustrade, mounted on ornamented consoles , runs across the entire floor width. An ornate cornice runs above the window. The facade closes with a wide cornice with a stone balustrade on top. The south facade is designed similarly, but a bit simpler.
