Baoudetta (also: Baoudéta ) is a rural community in the Tessaoua department in Niger .

geography

Baoudetta lies at the transition from the Sudan to the Sahel zone . The neighboring communities are Maïjirgui in the west and north, Korgom in the east and Koona in the south. The municipality is divided into seven administrative villages, one traditional village and 14 hamlets. The main town of the rural municipality is Baoudetta, consisting of the administrative villages of Baoudéta Haoussa and Baoudéta Peulh.

history

The rural community of Baoudetta emerged as an administrative unit in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the north-western part of the canton of Korgom.

population

At the 2001 census, Baoudetta had 8,416 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, the population was 11,867. The majority of the population are Hausa , Fulbe and Tuareg .

Economy and Infrastructure

The three economic cornerstones of the rural community are agriculture, rearing cattle, sheep and goats, and commercial beekeeping . Agriculture is impaired , among other things, by soil degradation and inadequate agricultural equipment. The agricultural use is increasingly extending to areas that were previously pastureland. This threatens livestock farming, which is practiced by sedentary farmers and in the form of transhumance .
